INSPECTING
The purpose of inspecting firefighter turnout gear is to determine the serviceability of the ensemble and if repairs are required or if the gear needs to be retired. Here at Alberta Fire Gear Cleaning we perform a routine inspection after every cleaning. We also provide Advanced Inspections which, according to NFPA 1851, should be performed once a year on all turnout gear under 10 years of age (after 10 years turnouts should be retired).

Damaged turnout gear should never be used on the fire ground.
Because of the intense heat and hazardous environments firefighters are exposed to, it is important to make sure their PPE is in peak condition. We repair turnout gear to meet NFPA 1971 standards.
